The conventional way of teaching science subjects at secondary schools will not always be sufficient in order to encourage students to continue studying these subjects at university. Science-Bus highlights the fun in studying science and offers schools more innovative and creative teaching techniques. Science-Bus is a common visitor to schools. Teachers consider it a partner which is a great achievement in Estonian education. The main strength of the project is the people. University students carry out the programme and are viewed as ‘older friends’ rather than teachers by the school students.

Children and young people sometimes experience difficulties in finding effective channels to express their opinions. They may have the impression that they have no voice in society and do not make the most of opportunities offered by a democratic system. The Estonian National Youth Council, which promotes local democracy, has developed an innovative tool called the Participation Metro Map which helps young people to identify different ways of playing an active role in society and making their voice heard.
