I'm An Inventor

National Schools Partnership is an agency that combines expertise in marketing and education to deliver free and useful projects and resources to schools to support them with their teaching. Our programmes are sponsored by organisations that want to engage with children and their families, and our job is to deliver effective, creative and impactful campaigns that address a wide range of social and educational issues.

Sony Pictures are releasing a new animated film in September 09 called ‘Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs’, which tells the story of an innovative inventor. To celebrate the film's launch we are creating an exciting set of free educational resources and launching a competition which will unite all 24,000 primary schools across the UK (equting to 3.6 million children) as well as across France, Italy, Spain and Germany. The project is a celebration of innovation and Science, linking to the subject of famous inventors / inventions and supporting the educational curriculum taught in school. The project aims to get children inspired by the talents and achievements of inventors of the past, and excited about Science and being inventors themselves. The project will culminate with an exciting competition, where children will be asked to develop their own innovative ideas by designing an invention to solve a problem that the world is facing.

Next Practice – Stimulating, Incubating, Accelerating

Next Practice is a framework used to support innovation and creativity in a number of sectors in England. These include education, local government services and within the third sector (not-forprofits). The methodology encourages networking of the key players in the field in order to develop more effective ways of designing public services in the 21st century. More specifically, it aims at ensuring that practitioners – head teachers, youth workers, those working in social care – are at the forefront of the creative process and can ensure that the service users can be fully involved in redesign so that their needs are better addressed.

Sankofa Project

The Sankofa Project aimed at engaging the young African Caribbean community in an assignment that would not only involve them in the journey of an artist, from creation of an artwork to its accession into a museum, but would also provide innovative and creative ways to visit museums. It also encouraged the young people to view these institutions for their significant cultural and heritage value. The project provided the participants, eight young people aged between 14 and 17, with the opportunity to work together towards the creation of an art object, inspired by the 18th century Wedgwood anti slavery medallion. The young people created the ‘Globe of Freedom’, which would then be displayed in prestigious local art galleries and community organisations as a ‘contemporary legacy’ for the commemoration of the Bicentenary of the Abolition of the Transatlantic Slave Trade Act.
