The European Commission realises a number of emblematic actions on a European scale in order to jointly raise awareness of the objectives of the European Year of Creativity and Innovation. The participating countries and civil society also bring an important contribution at local, regional, national and European level.

This section highlights some of the god practices projects that are related to creativity and innovation in a variety of fields- be in education, entrepreneurship, culture, administration, science or others.

The conference – exhibition: "Creativity & Innovation – Best Practice from EU Programmes" organised by Directorate-General for Education and Culture was an opportunity to explore and identify examples of best practice among projects that have received funding through several European Union programmes and funds: Socrates Programme (Comenius, Erasmus, Grundtvig, etc.), Leonardo da Vinci, Youth, Citizenship and Culture programmes, as well as from the Media programme, the Sixth Framework Programme (research) and the Structural Funds.

An exhibition of 20 examples of best practice supported by the EU programmes was organised in parallel, as a source of inspiration for other projects to be developed during the Year and beyond. In total 35 projects were chosen, by a panel of 10 independent experts out of more than 100 proposals.
